404 to homepage

    Can you please help me by letting know how to redirect all 404 pages to the Home Page?

    I do not advise you do this as it can negatively affect your site.

    Thanks for your kind words.
    Unfortunately, one of my friend’s website has been affected by japanese seo hacking and thousands of spam links have been injected.
    Till such time we get rid of those hacked contents, we want to redirect those 404 pages to the home page.
    Kindly help.

    I think that is the perfect example of not redirecting. A redirect is the same as saying ‘this URL used to exist and now lives on my home page’ as opposed to saying ‘this URL does not exist and should not exist’.

    A 404 is the correct response for those pages.

    You could also think about using a 410 instead.

    I have the same issue for a website. The ONLY way is to send 410 gone to URL with this plugin. You can do batch redirection. If you are interested to see the effect on google bot, use this log analysis https://www.seolyzer.io (free for a small website)
