• Hello Everybody,

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

I’m having a problem on my site with permalinks – everything was fine and then all of a sudden (perhaps after clearing the site cache?) I’ve been getting 404 errors for my pages.

I solved this by switching to ‘Plain’ permalinks’ which resolved the 404 issue but I really want to use the ‘pretty’ version (e.g. /menu) for link sharing and SEO etc.

This site was fine for a long time so I don’t get what’s changed – I’ve tried editing the .htaccess file and the rewrite module is on (according to the server guy).

Does anybody know what I can try here? I’ve tried just about every solution on Google and no joy!

Really appreciate any suggestions and thanks once again,

    Oli

“the server guy”… Is this your own server? How are you hosting? I’m thinking this may be an apache config issue.

    Hello Steven,

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

We’re using Tsohost as our service provider – I’ve spoken to them about the Apache thing but they say we need another solution because we’re on a shared server.

Any ideas? This is driving me nuts!

    Thanks once again,

    Oli

OK, if it’s a shared server, then it’s probably set up correctly.

    PLease show your .htaccess file.

    Hello,

I think this is an apache config issue.

Please open the apache config file apache2.conf
    and find <Directory /var/www/>
And make sure the AllowOverride directive is set to All,
after that restart apache and check.

please check and let me know if any

    Thank you
