404 page on view all page for custom post type

Can you share your settings for the troublesome post type? Curious if one of the parameters is causing some odd behavior.

Best guess I have at the moment is possibly a slug conflict with one of the taxonomies. Curious what slug you chose for “Daily Devotional Authors”. Otherwise, I can’t see anything obvious that’s preventing it.

If you follow along with https://docs.pluginize.com/article/83-using-the-debug-info-tab-for-custom-post-type-ui and send the info to michael @ webdevstudios . com, I can try out all post types/taxonomy settings on my own site and see if I can recreate and then debug.

Any changes with this one Peter?

So to clarify the issue at hand, when you visit https://www.woh.org/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=devotional, you’re seeing an empty list, despite knowing you have posts in the post type? or you’re receiving a server 404 error and WordPress isn’t even getting loaded?

From my end, I imported the CPTUI settings that were part of the debug info email, and this is what I’m able to get to: https://cloudup.com/cwBxyI8lB93

Interesting. No, I get the standard 404 page for the website. And yes, there are 100s of daily devotionals live on the site (see here: https://www.woh.org/devotionals/).

If it’s a standard 404 page, similar to https://blog.vilmatech.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/404-error-not-found.png then I am not sure what’s going on there. Not sure if enabling debugging in WordPress will provide much either, to be honest.

It’s the standard front-end 404 page for my WP theme. If it would help, I could give you a temporary admin account to look around.

Michael, is there something else you suggest I try in order to fix this? It’s a problem for my client.

Sadly I don’t have any new insights about what’s going on with the site. Something that would need debugged there and in place, so to speak. If I recall right, using the import data, I wasn’t having any issues and wasn’t able to recreate in my dev install.

A colleague of mine figured it out. It was pretty simple. The Devotionals were set as hierarchial = true and he just changed it to false. All seems to be well now.

A bit odd, because that primarily makes it possible to assign parent/child relationships, similar to pages, but at the same time, I won’t argue with the tweak working in this case.

Setting hierarchical to false fixes this problem if anyone else faces this.
