• Hi,

I’m getting a 404 Page Not Found error on all of my blog posts. The pages are working, but none of the posts are. My web master has gone through all of the general checks such as the permalinks settings and the .htaccess file. We’ve also gone through the steps listed here https://www.squidoo.com/wordpress-not-found-error-fix but to no avail.

We are using the SEO Slugs, SEO Ultimate plug ins.

We were recently hacked but that issue has been fixed, or at least we thought so. Perhaps this issue is because of the hack.

    Any ideas??

  • Check with your hosts that mod_rewrite is running on your server.

Hey esmi! Thanks for the reply!!!

I contacted our host about the mod_rewrite.

He reverted to a backup .htaccess file but there was no change.

He then ran a MySQL check and found one of the tables marked as crashed. He repaired this table and re-started MySQL. Still no dice.

It’s actually still unconfirmed if mod_rewrite is running.

What happens if you use the default permalink structure?

Using the default permalink structure, it works.

Feels like a dumb question, but I’d like to have our custom URLs back. What should I do now?

Okay, I changed it to default and it worked, then I changed it back to our custom /%postname%/ and it’s working as well!

My question now is, what happened?

Thanks so much for your help by the way!! I’m just so scared to start clicking away at things without advice.

I think that there may have been a problem with your web host for a certain time, although I doubt this. To me, it just looks like a simple reset (changing to default and back) did the trick. You probably will not have this problem again. Glad it worked out for you.
