404 Page Not Found Error When Installing Matomo Analytics Plugin

    Hi. I downloaded Matomo Analytics from the plugin listing here, and went to upload matomo.1.0.2.zip to WP on the Add Plugins page.

    When I clicked Install Now, I got a 404 Page Not Found error (which is on this uRL: https://marketingtwists.com/wp-admin/update.php?action=upload-plugin).

    I tried taking the dots out of the file name, and still get the same error. Any suggestions? This hasn’t happened before when installing a plugin, to my remembrance.

    I have PHP 7.4 and WP 5.3.2.

    Hi there, I suppose you can’t install it through the WordPress directory within your WordPress directly?

    The upload might fail because the ZIP file is rather large and likely your server has some limits configured on how much data can be uploaded max and / or after how many seconds to abort an upload in case it is taking too long.

    If you can’t install it through WordPress directory by searching for our plugin in your WordPress, can you maybe unzip it and upload it to your server eg using ftp or ssh?

    Oh, got it. Searching for “Matomo” and “Matomo Analytics” didn’t pull up anything, strangely.

    Your FAQ changes were helpful. “Matomo Analytics Ethical Stats” pulled it up in the WP repository, and I’m good to go now.
