I am not sure if this is relating to theme or word press itself. Just forgive me for intruding ??
I created a blog page, assigned that page as a blog, attached it to main menu.
Now when I click on it, it opens and shows this:

Error 404-Page NOT Found Ready to publish your first post?Get started here.

If i create a post (in posts)? then it disappears.? ?I do not know if this is a normal behavior.? Do you?
    Thanks tons

  • Hmm, that sounds like you did that right. To troubleshoot I would start with these steps:

    1. Check if you can view individual posts
    2. Try saving your permalinks
    3. Clear your site’s cache if your using a caching plugin
    4. Try in an incognito browser (to exclude browser caching as the issue)

I hope that helps you get started.

Check if you can view individual posts

Yes. As I said, it happens when there are Zero posts. Additionally, here it did not correctly show how it looks. I had to replace <> with — so you can see.

    Error 404-Page NOT Found
Ready to publish your first post? –a href=”https://mysite/wp-admin/post-new.php”>Get started here</a–.

Try saving your permalinks I REDRESHED THEM

Clear your site’s cache if your using a caching plugin
    i don”t know about this.

Try in an incognito browser (to exclude browser caching as the issue)
i TRIED CLEARING BROWSING CACHE, SAME RESULT

When you create a blog page and then go there, what should normally happen?

It looks like you got it sorted, is that right?

When I go to your blog-page it comes up without any errors:
    https://bfmradio.us/blog

But you have a post on there now, so maybe that makes the difference.

If you don’t have any posts, you would see something along the lines of:

No Results Found: The page you requested could not be found.

That doesn’t mean your blog page wasn’t found, but that there aren’t any blog-posts yet.

Anyway, setting your blog page in reading settings would look like this: https://ibb.co/sjwPmR1

And then when you go to your pages overview screen (so in your case here: https://bfmradio.us/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page), you should see that next to your blog page, is written ‘Posts Page’.

So that would look like this: https://ibb.co/DMdGtDJ

    I hope this helps.

I deleted it. You can take a look ??

Another thing I learned. If I go into settings and deselect blog page as a blog.
Then the page opens up with COMMENT field.

But the sec I designate this page as blog, it provides that error and piece of html code.

    Hmm, weird.

Have you tried to temporarily disable your plugins? If it start to work normally when you switch off your plugins, it would indicate a plugin conflict. You could then start switching them on one by one again to see which one causes the issue.

Another thing you could try is to switch to one of the default WordPress themes (like TwentyTwenty) and see if that resolves the issue. If it does, it would indicate some problem with the theme you’re running now.

Let me know how that goes…

You know, taking a second look, I think that’s not your 404 error page you’re seeing.

It does read like that, because it says: ‘Error 404-Page NOT Found’

But when we go to a page that really doesn’t exist, it shows something else. Try this for example: https://bfmradio.us/gftryejjvcj

Also, if you put your blog URL in a HTTP status checker such as https://httpstatus.io/, it shows a response code of 200 (so not a 404 error which you would expect if the page really wasn’t found).

So it looks like the page gets found fine, but the theme shows the wrong text if no posts are found.

    Does that make sense?

I tried to do a live preview of the blog with another theme… no errors. It is just an empty, I mean NOTHING AT ALL space, and under all the sidebars and whatever else – since it is not configured in that new theme ??

So, yes, i think it is something that has to do with particular theme. I’ve sent them a message about that. Will be waiting. I will post as soon as I find out anything form them. Thanks, Dave for your help ??

Great, glad I could help, and I’m curious to hear what they come back with ??
