404 page errors although the home page is showing

    Hi – I’ve put a site live on our test server having imported a database from the live site but I’m getting 404 errors on all but the home page. I can’t seem to get onto the admin area either. However all the urls look sound. Is there anything I can do via .ftp?

  • You likely just need to update your permalinks – this is common after a DB migration. (even though URLs look correct)

    You can rename the .htaccess file on your server which should let you access the admin area. Once there, just go to Settings–>Permalinks and re-save the settings there.

    That -should- do it unless there’s something else going on we’re unaware of.
