404 Not Found (possible .htaccess issue?)
-
Hello everyone, I’m having some issues with my WordPress blog and could really use help from someone who actually knows what they’re doing (because god knows I don’t).
The problem I’m having is specifically related to using plugins, but I don’t think it’s a plugin issue… I think whatever the problem is, it just manifests itself when I attempt to use some plugins. What I mean to say is, it’s not a problem with one or two plugins, it’s a problem with almost all of them, and these plugins are proven to be stable for everyone else.
Anyway! When I try to use some plugins and it attempts to take me to a new page in admin, I get this error:
The requested URL /wp-calendar.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
However, when I check my folders the page that wasn’t found is definitely in there, and so should be available. This happens with a few different plugins including Calendar By Kieran O’Shea and the ECard plugin. I’ve also had problems with Events Calendar, which may be related. Whenever I try to access that plugin the management area will only partially load, freeze my site and slow down my server for several minutes.
From all the searching I’ve done, I’ve found several threads suggesting this may be an .htaccess issue. I have permalinks enabled, and I have an .htaccess file in both the blog’s root directory and the wp-admin directory. I changed them in all the ways suggested in these threads:

Please please help! An event calendar of some sort is completely integral to my site.
Thanks in advance,
Ava
P.S. I also tried uninstalling, reinstalling and upgrading. I’m now running 2.3 and it’s still a problem. The site is here: https://www.thenewforward.net/wordpress
