• Hi

We are connecting 2 sites with WP Remote Users Sync.

Site 1 is on WPEngine and run via Cloudflare. WPEngine’s recommended DNS settings are to use CName records rather than A records. This site is giving us green ticks for incoming and outgoing tests.

Site 2 is on KnownHost and run via Cloudflare. It has DNS set up with an A record. It is throwing errors when we run any of the connectivity tests.

    The error message is
‘error contacting the remote site: 404-Not found. On the remote site please make sure the permalinks are not using the plain option.’

On both sites the permalinks are set to ‘postname’. I have re-saved these on both sites.

On both sites I have checked the wp-options table to make sure the url hasn’t been overwritten.

Going through the logs on Site 2, there are some green success messages and some orange warning messages:
Warning – Failed to renew token for ‘site 1’ – retrying…

I have tried to give what I think might be relevant info and am happy to provide more if required. Do you have any ideas please?

    I appreciate your help.

  • Similar problem here.

2 wordpress sites, one with postname permalinks, the other with plain permalinks.

From wp-admin of {plain permalinks} server -> tests are OK.

    From wp-admin of {postname permalinks} tests fail with a 404.

‘Alert – Error contacting the remote site: 404 – Not Found On the remote site, please make sure the permalinks are not using the “Plain” option.’

The requested URL /wprus/login/ was not found on this server.

We are trying to work out a way of rewriting the url /wprus/.* with a plain permalink style, but did not achieve much at the moment.

    Thanks,

    simon
