404 Not Found – Login Error

    Hi,

    Up until today I have been able to log-in to my WordPress site with no problems. However now, when I type my password and hit ‘enter’ I am redirected to a 404 Not Found error page. This only occurs using Google Chrome – other web browsers appear to be fine.

    I have noticed that when hitting ‘enter’ the link in the address bar says https://www.<myurl.com</<myurl.com&gt; – essentially repeating the main url link. If I click the ‘back’ arrow in the browser and then hit ‘return to <my url>’ on the log-in page, it then takes me to my website AND I am already logged in – so it appears to a fault with the log-in link.

    I have deactivated all my plug-ins and have tried 2 different ‘Members / Log-in’ plugins for WordPress – both have the same issues. I have also checked the permalinks within WordPress and cleared my cache in Google Chrome, but nothing appears to be working.

    Please do you have any advice?

  • It looks like custom code has altered the login URL somewhere along the line.

    Could you try with the default WordPress theme and see if that fixes the issue?
