404 for pages without translations

We have a couple pages that we do not have current translations for. We are getting 404 errors for these pages from Google even though there is no actual translated page. For example, https://mysitename/es/. https://mysitename/ is in EN and is fine but we do not have an ES version. I tried redirecting but it did not work. Is there a workaround for this? We have some pages translated and others are not.
