• I installed your plugin, added a category, then created an item and made sure the category was checked under Portfolio Categories. When I to to the item and click “view item” or when I go to “categories” and click “view” under the category name I get a 404 error. This issue was posted a month ago but marked resolved but no resolution was stated. Please help.

    Hello @idosites

Can you post a link to a url on your site where I can see the issue (an item post and a category page? A 404 error – page not found would also indicate that you maybe using a 404 redirect plugin – is that the case?

Can you please post a link – tell me if you have a 404 redirect plugin installed and I will be able to help you. Thanks – Steve

I found that if I turned off WordPress SEO (Yoast) it works, not just have to find what in Yoast is making it not work.

    Hello @idosites

Good work – if you can isolate which setting it is on the Yoast plugin that is causing that we can replicate it in our Lab and see what if anything we can do about it –

We use a3 Portfolio and Yoast SEO in all of our client sites and have never had the issue.

But we don’t use a lot of the settings – Perhaps it is the Advanced settings > Permalinks ?

    Change URL’s

[.. ] Strip the category base (usually /category/) from the category URL

As the settings help notes says

“if you insist on keeping this but do know that the feature is very error prone and not that important for your SEO.

    or this one

[.. ] Redirect ugly URL’s to clean permalinks. (Not recommended in many cases!)

The help text for that one says
“Please note that while this is a feature that is actively maintained, it is known to break several plugins, and should for that reason be the first feature you disable when you encounter issues after installing this plugin.”

Those would be the first ones that I would look at. Looking forward to seeing what you find.

    Thanks – Steve

    Hello danarasta

Thank you for the wp-admin and ftp access to your site.

The free WordPress theme Customizr that you are using does not have an archives or pages template. That does not mean that the theme is bad or has a bug – it is just the way the theme dev has chosen to create the theme.

In the World of Theme development creating a theme without archive.php and page.php is the exception rather than the rule and not something we considered in developing the a3 Portfolio plugin.

Basically the plugin is looking for the archive.php and page.php files to show the portfolio and portfolio category pages and as they don’t exist in that theme – is why your are getting the broken display and things not working on the Portfolio main page and 404 page not found on the Portfolio categories and Portfolio tags pages. The Item post is displaying fine https://cuca.mekademet.com/a3-portfolio/einav-rotem/

We are currently working on finding a way that a3 Portfolios can work with Customizr and any other theme that does not have those template files.

Will update you on here with the progress. Once again thank you for the access to your site – it is most helpful in identifying and resolving this issue.

    Steve
