404 errors navigating from Calendar event list

in that when I select a future date on the calendar of my site, which has multiple events for the date, and then select an event from the list of events a “whoops this page cannot be found” error is generated.
e.g. https://southgate-adelaide.org/archives/date/2016/09/24?post_type=sp_event
navigating to
https://southgate-adelaide.org/?post_type=sp_event&p=581These links work when I am logged on as admin but not when I am a regular user which makes me think it is some permissions issue but I am not sure how to resolve this.
When I do the same thing for historic events these seem to be working and they also generate a different url

https://southgate-adelaide.org/archives/sportevent/267I have the latest version of Sportspress (2.1) and the Rookie Theme (1.4.1). I have tried flushing permalinks and changing the default event permalink name which I found as possible resolutions for this but this has not made any difference. Any assistance in resolving this would be greatly appreciated.
