• I’m stuck on CPTP version 1.5.2 — upgrading generates 404 permalink errors for category links. The permalink structure is
    mysite.com/support/knowledge-base/%post-name%
where the knowledge-base CPT has a taxonomy name of “products”.
In 1.5.2 clicking on a category link in the format
    mysite.com/support/knowledge-base/products/category-name
works. It 404’s in 3.0.0 but entering
    mysite.com/knowledge-base/products/category-name
    does.
Through repeated testing, it appears that the 404 error doesn’t happen until I encounter the CPTP message about setting my permalinks. Updating the permalinks doesn’t fix the 404 errors, nor does changing my theme to a standard one.

Kindly help. I’m at a complete loss as to how to fix this.

  • @darh in 3.0.0, fixed option bug. Please check option “If you check this, the custom taxonomy’s permalinks will be example.com/post_type/taxonomy/term.”

Version 3.1.1 appears to fix the problem, with a caveat. I’m also running the Yoast SEO plugin. If I upgrade the Yoast SEO plugin from 4.3 to 4.4 before I upgrade CPTP to 3.1.1, CPTP works. If I reverse the upgrade order, CPTP has the same problem as before.

I was wrong, it’s not Yoast SEO, it’s something else. Will follow up here once I learn more.

I can now reproduce the 404 errors at will. The two steps are (1) upgrade CPTP then (2) visit the Permalinks page, which flushes the rewrite rules. It works all the way through to step 2.

I’m still at a loss as to how to fix.
