404 errors after a move from Joomla
-
I’ve moved a Joomla site to WordPress. The original Joomla site is still in the root folder here: https://toyota-dealer.org/ and the WordPress stie is at https://toyota-dealer.org/wp1.
I’m getting a tons of 404 errors in Google Search Console and not sure how to redress it. In Joomla site only the last category is listed when category is mentioned but file name is without any category and only as *.html.
For example:
https://toyota-dealer.org/Toyota-Hilux-Revo comes over in wp as https://toyota-dealer.org/wp1/vehicles/pickup-trucks/toyota-pickup-trucks/toyota-hilux-revohttps://toyota-dealer.org/toyota-hilux-revo.html is correctly coming over as https://toyota-dealer.org/wp1/toyota-hilux-revo.html
If I install a third party plugin to show only the last category I do get last category in the link but then this last category shows in the post link as well so it is:
last-category/
Last-category/post.htmlI would like to eat my cake and have it or have to deal with 200 404 errors and counting. If that is not possible, is there a way to tell Google to redirect a visitor looking for last-category/ to full list of categories page in WordPress.
I know it is the weekend but I have been tasked to sort out the 404 issue by this weekend so any help would be appreciated.
The client is slowly moving all his Joomla sites to WordPress but this continuity problem is proving to be a challenge as not able to replicate Joomla links into WordPress.
