    Hello,

In WordPress Site Health I permanently have this issue: The REST API encountered an unexpected result – see here a screenshot: https://drive.google.com/file/d/19wPoEjr9k71SUTWw2oS11OroNhfBBwKJ/view?usp=sharing

It shows “404 not found” and “Proudly powered by LiteSpeed Web Server.
Please be advised that LiteSpeed Technologies Inc. is not a web hosting company and, as such, has no control over content found on this site.”

I did activation and deactivation of all plugins installed in my site to check which one causes this issue.

I found out that activation only of RSSSL plugin makes this issue appear! When RSSSL is deactivated the issue is gone. (All other plugins are deactivated!)

Can you help with this. It affects all my WP instalations.

    Regards,

    Greg

I have this message on one site, but on another site, on another hosting environment with Really Simple SSL all is good. Apparently it depends on the server.

Does the message also go away if you use the “deactivate but keep https” option in settings/ssl?

    Thank you for your answer.

I am glad that the problem does not affect only me:)

I did “Deactivation and keep SSL” but the error stays.

When I did deactivation of the RSSSL plugin on the Installed Plugins list, I was logged out from the site. But when I logged in again this Issue disappeared and occured new one “Only parts of your site are using HTTPS”.

Is there anything that tells you why this is happening?
Where to look for the cause?
Does it have anything to do with the Lite Speed server?

Of course I would like to keep the RSSSL plugin as well as The mixed content fixer and .htaccess redirect activated.

    Hi @gregywordpress,

This means Really Simple SSL is not the cause. Let me explain what you tested:

If you deactivate Really Simple SSL in the plugins overview, there are two changes:
    – Site URL and home URL are changed to http
    – Really Simple SSL is deactivated

If you use the “deactivate but keep https” option, there’s only one change:
    – Really Simple SSL is deactivated

If you do the first (deactivate plugin and change to http), te problem goes away. If you do the second (only deactivate the plugin), the problem doesn’t go away.

This means that the issue is not caused by Really Simple SSL, but by your site URL and home URL having been changed to https.

The fact that this occurs on some hosting environments and not on others means it’s something related to the server configuration. There may be a security limitation on some URL’s. It is also possible this is a false positive from WordPress sitehealth.

Maybe your hosting company can tell you why it’s returning the 404 when the site URL changes to https.
