• The site I have I want to 2 membership levels Free (0) and Paid (1)

If I locked down a test page where only membership level (1) can access content using a test free member (0) I get an error instead of my members option page I created per the tutorial videos.

I also by the way do not see a way to downgrade a member back to (0) when I edit a user

    Any ideas?

What do you mean by savings the permalink. You mean save the page in the editor?

No. Go to Settings -> Permalinks and hit Save Changes (even though you will not have changed anything). This “flushes” your permalinks.

    Same thing

OK, we’re now down to four or five possibilities!

Could you go to s2Member -> Restriction Options, then go to Alternative View Protection and report back which option is checked there?

The first one. Filter ALL WordPress Queries Then the boxes below are all grey with checks in them because that one is checked.

OK. Now uncheck that box, and instead check all the others individually. Then go to the bottom, and hit Save All Changes. Then try accessing the page again as a subscriber.

    That did it..!

Did I miss something in the setup guide?

    Great!

You did nothing wrong at all. This is a very obscure issue, and I’m still not sure what causes it. Could I ask what theme you’re using?

    Thread Starter zorro1965

    (@zorro1965)

OK. In that case, it might be an issue caused by the theme.

What you could try, out of interest, is switching to the default 2014 theme, and then going back to Alternative View Protection and selecting ALL again instead of all the others. Then see if you can access the page as a subscriber.

You know I almost done that earlier just to see, Give me a min I will report back to you.

Nope we can rule out the theme

Interesting. The only other thing that comes to mind as relevant is your host. Who is that?

    Thread Starter zorro1965

    (@zorro1965)

    I have a very good host. nexcess.net

I don’t know that one but, as you say, it looks good. So it’s unlikely to be a configuration issue. That just leaves your plugins. Do any of them handle redirects too?

Of course, the easy way to check for a plugin conflict is just to turn them all off except s2Member, and then see if you can access the page as a subscriber with Alternative Protection set to ALL.
