404 error tracking

Hi this is my fist time using this forum, I help look after Key Retirement Solutions, equity release specialists. I am wanting to track 404 pages better with Google Analytics. I tried using this blog and set up

and thought I might as well ask is this is the best way of tracking the errors or is there a better way than installing loads of different plugins. Ta Mike
