The page attempted by ‘W3 Total CacheW3’ was /page-sitemap.xml but my sitemap page is on /sitemap_index.xml. I have keyed in the correct link into Page Cache’s sitemap URL section but it kept trying for the wrong one. Is there a reason for this and how can I stop the request?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello @agoza

I am sorry about the issue you are experiencing and I am happy to assist you with this.
Can you please share more details about this? Are you using the Cache Preload feature?
Is the correct sitemap placed in the Sitemap URL: field under the Cache Preload?
Also, where are you seeing those 404 error pages?
    Thanks!

Hi @vmarko yes I am using the feature and it is correctly configured. I’m seeing these in my Rank Math’s 404 Monitor and All In One WP Security & Firewall’s 404 Event Logs. Now it seems that it’s trying the correct link and it still is a 404 error, but previously it was trying for both /page-sitemap.xml and /sitemap_index.xml. I didn’t change the URL in the settings and only reentered the same one.

While I’m at Rank Math topic, can I ask you another thing? Its site analysis feature tells me that W3 Total Cache plugin is visible and it is a security concern. Please advise how I can remedy this.

    Hello @agoza

    Thank you for the information.
Possibly, since you first used the /page-sitemap.xml and now /sitemap_index.xml(which you should have used in the first place) the pages got cached and with the new sitemap, those are now showing 404. Please double-check if those pages are actually 404.
YOu can try manually deleting the wp-content/cache/page_enhanced/ folder which will remove all cached pages, leave the https://www.wizonemail.com/sitemap_index.xml sitemap in the Sitemap URL: field and let the Cache Preload work with the existing sitemap.
As for security issues, there is no security concern. Simply the users are able to see that the website is powered by W3 Total Cache.
    Thanks!
