404 error page

This happens sometimes – not entirely sure why. Solution is pretty simple though.

1. On your Settings page, copy your Permalinks settings.
2. Set the Permalinks setting to the WordPress default and save it.
3. Change Permalinks setting back to value you saved in Step #1 and save it.

These steps cause a complete re-write of the permalinks and almost always resolves the 404 problem.

I think I’m getting somwehere.
I have embedded the code to replace the gravity form.
Only thing, it shows the form in a box that is smaller than the real page.
Is there a way to make the box of the google form longer?

Your form is in an IFRAME element which means it wasn’t added to the page with the plugin.

But the problem is exactly this: I do not know how to add this Google Form plugin page to the Contact page!

I’m still wondering how to, from inside your plugin, redirect this Google form that I have to appear on the CONTACT page.

You add it with the short code for the form you defined in WordPress.

In WordPress there is a menu “Google Forms”. Once you’ve defined your form and you can view it using the “View Google Form” button, go back to the “Dashboard > Google Forms” menu. It will show a list of forms you have defined which is likely only one form.

One of columns will have the shortcode syntax for your form in it, will look like [wpgform id=’N’] where N is a number.

Place that shortcode on your contact page and your form will appear. Make sure to remove the embedded iframe version as they will conflict with each other.

I’n going to push my luck and ask a follow up question:
I’M adjusting the size of the image I have put on the first page of the survey right inside Google Form.
The resizing of the image are appearing on the form from the google form but not on the integrated plugin.
Ideas?

I would use CSS to resize the image within WordPress or I would simply add the image to the WordPress page above the shortcode and remove it from the Google Form.

I too am getting the 404 error. I don’t know what you mean by Set the Permalinks setting to the WordPress default and save it. When I go to Setting | Permalinks, I don’t see a default option. I did toggle permalinks settings, saved, and then went back to my original option, and it worked. But when I change the permalink name, the page goes 404. I’ve looked at my FTP and it doesn’t seem to be creating a wpgform/ folder.

And one last thing, there is not submit button, only the text:

You’re dealing with a couple of issues here.

The missing submit button is due a change Google made recently to Google Forms. These newer form are based on HTML which is very different than prior versions of Google Forms.

There are a couple of posts on my web site which explain what is going on and what you can do about it. Here is the first one, and here is the second one.

You will find the actually directory for wpgform – WordPress handles parsing URLs with what appear to be directories and map them to the appropriate action – this is often called URL routing and the .htaccess file handles this for WordPress.

Where did you change the permalink name?
Toggling the permalinks like you did causes a permalinks re-write and as you noted, will akmost always resolve broken link issues.

Thanks for getting back to me. I reverted to the old Google form, and that works, until I see the page in WordPress and then I’m getting the 404 again.

I’ve gone into settings, permanent links switched to one of the other settings saved, switched back and saved and that hasn’t stopped the page not found error message.

I changed the permit link address at the top of the WordPress page that your plug-in creates
