• Hi,

Yesterday I tried to login to my dashboard and recieved my 404 error page. All posts on the website display properly and the navigation works but I can’t get into the dashboard. The odd thing is the grey bar appears along the top allowing me to try and edit posts, widgets etc so the system thinks I’m logged in but won’t let me into the actual dashboard.

I’ve renamed my plug in folder, changed my theme to the default, cleared cached and cookies, deleted htaccess and even reinstalled a brand new version of wordpress but am still receiving the 404.

Has anyone ever experienced this I’ve spent a day on it and am really at a loss.

    Many Thanks

This has now been fixed, my hosts had enabled a security module that had stopped it working which they have now rectified. Shame I lost a day on this but anyone facing a similar problem may want to contact the hosts first before spending too much time.

This happened to me, as well and I could not find the solution for it. I asked the customer to change the host and am waiting for them. Glad you have got the problem solved.

Further to my comments the module was called the suhosin module and I believe they overwrite it in the .htaccess file if that helps anymore.

    Hope you get yours sorted.
