We are evaluating security plugins, and we would like to know if Wordfence includes a list of 404 errors resulting from pages not found, or from crawling malicious URLs.

We wanted to know if the premium version includes something similar. How to know that all malicious URL crawls that look for vulnerabilities in websites are being stopped in real time.

If not, can you please tell us what control mechanisms you have to stop these creeps in real time.

    Thanks
    Luis

    Hi @lemdeals,

You can choose to log all traffic or only security-related traffic on the Live Traffic page feed.? Logging all traffic would include 404 errors, whereas security-related logging would only include security incidents such as login attempts and blocked requests.? If a crawler takes any malicious action, Wordfence will block the attempt in real-time and the attempt will be listed under Live Traffic.

If you are using a low-cost hosting plan that limits the resources you have available, choosing “Security Only” is recommended to reduce the load on your web server. If you still choose to log all traffic, it will allow you to see regular page views and other traffic that is not blocked.

Wordfence also offers rate limiting, including limiting the number of 404 pages a crawler can visit within a certain period before being throttled or blocked.? You can read more about these options at https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/rate-limiting/?

These features are available in the free version of our plugin.  Per the forum rules, we’re not allowed to discuss Premium here, but please reach out to us at presales @ wordfence . com if you have any questions about it.

    Thanks,
    Margaret
