Been chasing a bug (or so I think) for hours. When I would opt in I kept getting 404 error when using my common emails. After reading further I noted your plugin will not allow someone to re-subscribe if they previously opted out? Fine, that’s not great, the the error process isn’t working. They just get 404 error. Video screen capture explains here, how do I fix this or give the user options. A 404 is not the way to handle it: https://screencast.com/t/NCm9a4QAuw

    Hello @crucible67,

Do you have any redirect URL set? If yes can you please share its link with us?

    @ crucible67,

I just tested and was not able to reproduce a 404 error. Secondly please note that since last few months MailChimp.com has blocked users resubscribing from 3rd party forms. This is beyond our control and the only way around it is to manually delete the user profile from a specific list.
This however is not related to the 404 error.

    Hi,

Thanks for helping on this. Yes, here is video, I show you the thank you page custom URL, and I duplicate the problem in the video. If you want to try on my site, sign up, then opt out of the mail chimp list, and you will likely experience the same issue. https://screencast.com/t/sR6lDnN3V

    Hey @ crucible67,

I did see the video, what I need to check is your URL. I was not able to copy it from your video so would appreciate it if you could directly share it in your reply.

    @ crucible67,

Please ignore my earlier email. I am able to get the URL. I’ll test and get back to you shortly.

    @ crucible67,

Thank you for your patience. I was able to reproduce the error. To rule out few possibilities, can you please add the form shortcode to another page without using any page builder if possible and then share the URL of this page with us?

Here you go, just short code on test page. https://www.messagekey.com/test/

    Hey @crucible67,

I tested it again but got the same result. We would need to test this further and would need more details

Can you please use the form on this page https://mc4wp.com/contact/ to contact us? Please add a link to this post as well, so we will know who you are.

I opened a ticket there and referenced this link

The problem was a field with the name=”name” property. The post value “name” is reserved by wordpress for their page routing. renaming it to <input name=”NAME” (using capitals) solved the problem.

Thanks Lap, I thought I would create a quick video explaining the problem, and the SOLUTION to 404 error using the MailChimp for WordPress plugin. I hope is helps others getting the same error.
