I found out with Siteground support the many problems of The Event Calendar are because is not compatible with the new Guthenber release.

I ended up using another plugin to showcase events instead.

@erishel, thanks for responding. I was using the latest version of The Events Calendar at the time and I did try using another theme like Twenty Nineteen and it still produced the same issue.
