• Help! I am using a theme that had a ‘blog’ tab in addition to the page tabs that I created. Evidently it’s a dashboard link. It was the first page to load when I typed my web address, and I wanted to get rid of it, so looked on the creators website and found a way to change the name from blog to home. When I did that, I had 2 home pages…and since I wasn’t able to delete the dashboard page (formerly blog and now labeled home), I deleted the ‘home’ page I created. Great, I thought, except that now when the website loads on that page, I get a 404 page not found error.

I am thinking that I need to point that page back to home, or better yet, be able to get rid of it altogether. Would anyone be willing to help fix this?

    Thanks.

  • What is your front page set to display in Settings -> Reading?

Ah, isn’t the answer always in the question…dang, great question! I knew right when I read it, and chuckled when I went to settings>reading that the fix was near.

    Thank you.

Any idea how to get rid of the dual home page deal (now I have two pages, both say ‘home’ that go to the same place)?

    Again, thanks a lot!

    Make today great!

I’d guess that you’ll need to edit header.php. If you can post the site url here, I might be able to give you an idea of what code you’ll need to remove.

    Hi,
That would be great…I’ll paste the header.php code in below. Also, is there a simple book I can pick up or resource I can view that would help me get a broad understanding of how the code works? Thanks again.
