    By what principle does the 404 detector work in this plugin? Is it really possible to provide protection?

    yes, every 404 detection will be logged and after detection our plugin do not allow attackers to get access to your page. After detection all issues saved in logs. If you turn off 404 module this protection type will be disabled.
