    Hello,

Your plugin has been very useful for a lot of things so firstly thanks for creating it!

Can you please clear up something for me?

Inside 404 & Redirects I see a heck of a lot of URLs that have been “automaticaly indexed” which are spam – cure for yeast bvgg, how to cause pregnancy bvgg, etc…

I’m getting about 2 a minute!! Is this normal and are they being redirected before being created on my site? Or do I have some spammy malware on my site that I need to get rid of? I have installed Sucuri Security and it reports no problems with malware etc. Also Google hasn’t blacklisted my site or anything.

My wordpress site has replaced the old html site on my server but now the search results on Google are way, way lower even though I have most of the same content plus loads more which is heavily optimised – could these links be causing my ranking to be depressed?

    Thanks for any help given,
    Jack

    Hi Jack,

It doesn’t sounds good indeed. Sucuri is great but depending if the problem was there before installation of the plugin or not, it can be useless.

Did you register your website on the Google Search Console? It’s usually detected over there. If your website is infected, Google will show a message in search results and you can have penalties.

When I search origin effects on google it is the top result and doesn’t show any messages. My site is registered on Search Console and I can’t see any errors there. Where in particular would I see it detected there?

Are these links actually on my website or are they being redirected/removed before doing anything bad?

I guess from your reply that it isn’t normal to have all of these 404 links coming up!

    Thanks

Can you show me a screenshot of those “spam” links?

    Hi,

Weird, the 404 automatically indexed means an external site have tried to reach those URLs and haven’t succeed (hopefully). Maybe it’s some kind of spam bot. If your google search console don’t report anything, it should be OK.

You can try to flush all the 404 and see later if they’re coming back ??

    Well fingers crossed it’s OK!

So are you saying that an external site has tried to reach one the urls listed there for some reason?

Would this affect my google rank at all?

Thanks for your help so far and for creating the plugin!
