Hi, our site uses a front-end form for logged-in staff members to post new jobs. The form has just started showing 403 errors when you click the Preview or Save Draft buttons, if the Job Description has more than a paragraph of text.

If the same job is posted using the back-end form it successfully posts without error.

If I reduce the amount of text in the front-end Description field, it posts successfully.

    There are no server-log errors.

Any ideas how to diagnose this please?

    Hi there,

    That definitely shouldn’t be happening.

Can you please try from a different browser or using an incognito/private window?

There might also be a chance that your theme or one of your plugins is conflicting, and you may need to troubleshoot using the health check plugin.

With this plugin, you can troubleshoot the live site, without disturbing the site for visitors. Here is how to enable troubleshooting mode in the health check plugin.

After enabling troubleshooting mode, you can check if you have the same error?

If it works then, you will need to activate plugins one by one, and in case you switched to a different theme like Twenty Twenty while troubleshooting (which is recommended), you will also need to activate your original theme to check if your theme or any plugin is causing the issue.

Let us know how it went!

    Hi Animesh,
unfortunately, the 403 problem on job preview, hasn’t gone away. The site allows one job, then the second one goes to 403. I used a plugin to deactivate all superfluous plugins and ‘go to basic theme’ on that page, the problem keeps coming back. Can you tell me what resources are being used when the job is previewed please? There are no timeout or memory errors being recorded on the hosting. Is Ajax or just .js being run when the job is posted?

It’s a very difficult problem to diagnose using the usual theme/plugin deactivation.

    Hi there –

Thanks for sharing the screenshot. Did you disable all plugins other than WP Job Manager and test with a default theme? Based on the screenshot, it appears something is calling pix_menu_globals which seems to indicate not all plugins have been disabled.

I did just this and couldn’t reproduce the issue. Could you share more information about your setup such as what theme you are using and what plugins you have installed?
