I am using WPforms Lite latest version on WordPress 5.5.1 docker image.
When I try to edit any form, I get the following error:
Forbidden – You don’t have permission to access /wp-admin/admin.php on this server.
    The URL invoked is: /wp-admin/admin.php?page=wpforms-builder&view=fields&form_id=72

What I have tried and did not work:
    – Removing and reinstalling the WPforms plugin
    – Deactivating all other plugins
    – Rebooting WordPress instance
    – Recreating .htaccess file (via Settings-Permalinks)
    – Checking file rights in /wp-content/plugins/

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hello @esackbauer,

Usually, when you see a 403 error message, it’s most probably some file permission issue. When you have a moment, please try to modify the permissions of the files to 644 and for the folders to 755.

WPBeginner has a great tutorial on how to resolve 403 errors: https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-the-403-forbidden-error-in-wordpress/

You might also want to get in touch with your web host and have them look at the permission of your site files and directories as this should be something they can look into.

    I hope this helps!

Jade, thanks for your response, but as I already mentioned the file rights are okay, www-data has all rights it needs.

This error happens ONLY when I try to edit a form, all other wpforms pages are working, even the form itself!

I guess this happened with an upgrade from an earlier version. The error exists at least since WordPress 5.4.2

    Hello @esackbauer,

Is there a chance that you can enable your error log and provide us with the complete log messages you got?

That way, we’ll be able to see if what is mainly causing the issue.

Thanks, and please let me know.

    Hi @esackbauer,

We haven’t heard back from you in about a week, so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread for now. But if you’d like us to assist further, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.

    Thanks!
