403 Forbidden when accessing site with Password Protect

I installed the plugin and enabled password protection and when trying to access my site (mysite.com), I get a 403 forbidden error, page not found.
When I try to access my site with the www before the url, the password protect loads properly.
Can you please tell me how to fix this?
This is the url that is in the browser when the error is displayed:
https://www.mysite.com/?password-protected=login&redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fmysite.com%2F
