• Hi,

I installed WP and got it running fine. I decided to have the url point to an index.html file instead of the WP index.php : ‘DirectoryIndex index.html’ in .htaccess file.

I disconnected from my WP account to view the index page online. Now I can’t log back in. I get this message :

    Forbidden

You don’t have permission to access /wp-admin/ on this server.

I am pretty sure it’s the .htaccess file that is keeping me from accessing either /wp-admin or /wp-login but I have no clue what I should do to login to my WP account while keeping the html page as my index page.

    Could anyone help ?
    Thanks,

    i.

Ok, I got the answer from a friend. For those who are having the same problem, just enter in the search :
    yourdomain/wp-admin/index.php

Now my next question is : when editing your blog, is there a way to visualize your pages and posts without it directing you to that index page ?

    Thanks again,

    i.

Index page is the first page that browsers look for and sends requests to servers when you enter your URL for accessing the site. If there is an index.html page it loads first and prevents other index files (like index.php) from loading.

Ok, but now that I have this index.html page as a maintenance page, I’d like to be able to work on my blog and being able to view my pages. How do I do that ?

I’ve tried (as read in a support post) to put index.php in the pages url. But it’s not working. I don’t want to have a WordPress page as a construction page but my static html page.
    Thanks.
