403 error
-
Hi, I had not realized you had responded. I had the host provider re:authorize my ISP but they won’t do it again! I’m blocked again. How do I: “rename the Wordfence plugin directory to something like wordfence.bak.” I am new at this. If I don’t have access to the site?
Thanks Lisa
Original question:
Hi, I have taken over looking after a site that I did not create. All of a sudden I get a 403 error The following error occurred:
You are not permitted to access the requested URL.
Please contact the webmaster with any queries.I’ve tried to see how to fix but I can’t even log into the site. I am pretty sure they have word Wordfence. Can someone help me out?
Hey @bd2020m,
The quickest way back into the site will be to rename the Wordfence plugin directory to something like wordfence.bak. Once you’re back in the site you can rename it back to re-enable it. Then you can navigate to Wordfence > Live Traffic to view why this lockout has happened. If you’d like, you can share the expanded Details as to why the lockout happened, and we can advise on how to prevent this in the future.
Please let me know how it goes.
Thanks,
Gerroald
