• Hello,

I am a new Afterpay merchant. I have installed this plugin and entered my account details, everything looks fine when I activate, however there is an error at checkout.

When I select the ‘checkout’ option I get a backend error that reads:

‘API Error #403 “merchant_channel_setup_error”. Transaction not allowed” followed by an Error ID.

On the front end it reloads the checkout and says there is an issue and to contact support.

I thought this may be caused by my account being in review queue, however my account manager has just confirmed my account is approved.

Can you please help as to why this isn’t working?

The plugin is now disabled on my site as it isn’t working.

    Hi @lulustone,

Thank you for your message and positive review.

Upon investigation this looks likely to be an accidental or temporary account issue. The team is looking into the root cause of the challenge and will communicate the resolution shortly.

    Thank you.

    Hi @lulustone,

The team can confirm that this was a temporary account issue that has now been resolved. This can be verified by reenabling the plugin and testing the checkout again.

    Thank you.

I am having the same issue and have re-activated and still no change to the #403 transaction not allowed

    Please help

    Hi @sabinauni,

    Thank you for your message.

The team would very much like to assist with resolving this challenge. To facilitate this please submit a support request including a link to this post using the following web form: https://help.afterpay.com/hc/requests/new?ticket_form_id=193406

    Thank you.

    This is absolutely deplorable…

this is not what support forums are for. Obviously a lot of people are getting this error “Error #403: Transaction not allowed” but your response to every support ticket is contact support – which leaves no help for anyone trying to solve the issue themselves.

Is there a specific reason we need to contact Afterpay support?

What is the result of the support ticket?

Is it something we can solve ourselves as merchants / developers?

    Is your plugin just rubbish?

Is Afterpay just a terrible company??

These are all questions I’d love to have answers for at some point this century…

For anyone reading this in the future.

This was due to a bank account error.

    Hi @defmans7,

    Thanks for your message.

As mentioned in the previous response, these kinds of challenges are likely related to individual merchant accounts. For privacy reasons, potentially sensitive or personally identifiable information cannot be disclosed in public forums.

As some examples, a merchant account might not yet be fully activated, require additional information or verification, temporary disabled, even permanently terminated due to fraudulent activity. This is private information that can only be shared in a private correspondence between a verified account holder and the Afterpay support team.

Please also note that account-level challenges are not directly related to the integration software provided for various ecommerce platforms, such as WooCommerce.

    Thank you.
