• Hide backend functioned normally until upgrade to 4.0.12 from the 4.0.2 version I was using. After upgrade to 4.0.12 the custom URL for backend resulted in a blank webpage. sitename/wp-admin produced the error for You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.

Renamed plugin as was able to gain access via wp-admin. Deleted plugin and removed ITSEC tables from DB. Reinstalled plugin and put all settings back to the way I had them (I keep records) – hid backend to custom URL and blank webpage. Unchecked hide backend and normal function. Thought it may be a conflict with custom login and coming soon plugins. Deleted those but no joy. WP-admin and custom URL produced the blank page or do not have sufficient permissions message.

Looked at .htaccess file after deleting ithemes and it went back to stock entry. Looked after installing and there were the custom entries so I know iThemes is writing to the file.

BTW…spelling mistake in custom action help text. last word is hear and should be here.

Yes I did follow the Recovering the Admin/Login URL (from Hide Backend Setting) post.

UPDATE: reverted back to 4.0.2 and the hide backend problem resolved. When I logged out of the site the URL read https://www.sitename.com/?loggedout=true

With the 4.0.12 version the You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page. error message appeared.

I tried several time to re-install the new plugin for the same reason, without success… until I deleted as well all ITSEC tables, and re-installed again.

Now everything works. The problem occurs on some WP installations (and not all). I don’t succeed to know why, I can just tell it happens even you don’t have enabled the “hide Backend Setting”.

Version 4.0.16 still producing blank login page with hide backend enabled.

    The problem persists.
    – upgraded from 4.0.2 which is functioning properly and the custom admin login produces a blank/empty webpage.
    – Also unsuccessful results uninstalling plugin and deleting itsec tables and then installing clean.
    – tried in FF, IE, Safari, Chrome
    – tried wp-admin url after initial activation…onscreen message was You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.
    – if disabled it will function normally but, of course, it’s reverted back to sitename/wp-admin URL.

    Hey All,

Could you please update to v4.0.21? There have been many fixes including the Hide Backend feature.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald
