• Hello,

Everything was working perfect until mid of January 2025. Suddenly got error on WordPress settings – Vipps MobilePay not yet correctly configured: please go to?the Vipps MobilePay settings?to complete your setup: 401 Unauthorized Access denied due to invalid subscription key. Make sure to provide a valid key for an active subscription.

I checked and matched with vipps portal. Everything seems correct, but got same error on WooComerce log too.

The error message is just that: The subscription key does not match the MSN and test/live setup.

If this is an old setup that used to work but no longer does, you may be experiencing a bug with your keys, but first check:

    1. Is this for live or test keys? If it is for live keys, make sure test mode is turned of
    2. If for live; check that the MSN for which the key is created is for the live setup
    3. Are you using the Vipps Recurring api? If not, make sure this is not activated or incompletely set up.

You should be able to test your keys on the Vipps Mobilepay settings screen, on the main page. When saving this, the system will try to get an access key (using the client key and client secret) and if this succeeds, do an API call using the MSN and the subscription key. You should be seeing either an OK message or an error message on the top of the page.

    Thank you for your reply.

    Yes, this was old setup.

I have already checked the setup with vipps portal which is good.

    1. Live key.

    2. Checked MSN and match with setting.

    3. This is not using for Recurring API.

I checked the settings and after saved got the error message – Could not connect to Vipps MobilePay: 401 Unauthorized Access denied due to invalid subscription key. Make sure to provide a valid key for an active subscription.

When I use the Test API key, the error disappears, and the test mode payment works correctly. I also contacted Vipps support, and they confirmed that there are no issues with the API.

However, for the production, getting same error – Could not connect to Vipps MobilePay: 401 Unauthorized Access denied due to invalid subscription key. Make sure to provide a valid key for an active subscription.

Just to be sure, check that you are not using the same MSN and sub key on Test and Api setup screens. The test MSN/subkey will only work there, and vice versa.

If you are 100% sure you are using the correct MSN and sub key in the live environment, please send us an email at [email protected] – we can try to verify that your keys should work.
