    Hi heddo,

I haven’t heard of anyone reporting this issue before, but I will look into it. I’m not sure how a new app can reach a request limit like that right off the bat. Are you using the App ID for something else as well or did you just create it for the sole purpose of interacting with my plugin?

The plugin used to be much much easier, however, Facebook made it much more strict how people interact with their API. This forced me to make a large update a few months ago that requires an App ID and all sorts of things. I’m still trying to sort things out with the little time I have to make the plugin more user friendly. I’ve made progress, but there is still a lot of work that needs to be done.

    Hello,

Just to help you more with this issue. I created the App ID especially for the plugin. I’m not using it anywhere else. I created it by following the steps you mention in the plugin instructions.
I tried another plugin that also needs an App ID, I created a new one for this plugin and it worked well (except that I didn’t like the plugin). I hope this issue will be fixed because your plugin is the best but it’s too bad that I can’t use it…
    Good luck! ??

    Hi heddo,

Can you post the Facebook page URL you are trying to import albums from? Have you tried another page to see if you get the same error?

    Hello again,

I was trying to import an album from this page https://fb.com/EspaceFrancais (this page belongs to me). I re-installed the plugin and re-created a new App ID. Now it tells me after click on Find Albums “An access token is required to resquest this ressource”. So, I gave permission for the plugin to access my profile and photos. After doing that, it imported the albums of the public page.
Do we need to log in from the beginning so the plugin works?

After importing the album and inserting the shortcode into the post, I’m getting this error

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in
    /home/.../plugins/fb-photo-sync/fb-photo-sync.php
    on line 45

Turns out the issue is that Facebook did a significant change to their API going from version 2.3 to version 2.4. My plugin was using version 2.3. It really really messed up my plugin and I’m working through the issues now. In the mean time, if you have a Facebook App that is less than 2.4, that will probably work.

Facebook is making me really regret ever working with their API. The people that work there have no concern for backwards compatibility. It almost makes me want to abandon this plugin. Seriously, what a pain…

I guess it’s impossible to get an older version of their API. Here’s what it says:

This is the oldest version of the API this app can access. Any call to a version earlier than this or unversioned call by this app will automatically get upgraded to this.

I had this feeling that Facebook is trying to limit the use of their ressources.
Do you have any version of the plugin that works with Google+
You have the best plugin so far. It’s too bad if you abandon it. The features are excellent.
I have tried other plugins as well. I guess they are facing the same problem, but I didn’t care because the features aren’t that cool.
Maybe updating (again) the plugin will help. I don’t know. You are the expert here…

I’m going to look into creating an app outside of the plugin. Stay tuned.

    Hi heddo,

Please try the newest version 0.5.4. This should (hopefully) fix all your problems with the plugin since it is now compatible with v2.4 of Facebook’s Graph API. Let me know if you have any issues and thanks!

    Hello Mike,

Now the plugin is working! Good job!
Keep working on it. Maybe you can add some new features in the future (customizing the photos appearing, showing or not the description…).
    Anyway, you are doing well!!

Haha, thanks, and I’m glad it fixed your issue! Hopefully this API version is a bit more stable so I can focus on stuff like that and focus less on keeping the plugin working. The next phase is options and such like you just described.

Marking this issue as resolved. If you experience any other issues, please don’t hesitate to put in another ticket. ??
