This plugin was working fine for me on WordPress 4.6.1 but once I upgraded to 4.7 it did not work. Not sure if it’s my theme or plugin. I downgraded back to 4.6.1 and all was good again.

I am running the ThemeSoft theme by ThemeFurnace and 2.1.1.7 of Custom Sidebars.

    Thanks.

  • It’s done the same for me too. It seems to have wiped my existing sidebars but it also won’t let me edit or delete any new ones that I create.I am using Woo Themes Canvas. I’m not sure how to dowmgrade WordPress but this does not seem like a long term answer as we’ll have to upgrade at some stage soon anyway. I’m not sure what to do now.

    Hello jasnlee and thecollins14,

I checked Custom Sidebars on my WP 4.7 but it works fine. I can’t replicate any of those issues.

When site is updated to new version also other plugins can be update with it – could this be case on your site? If yes could you run plugin test conflict so we could exclude that another plugin is source of the problem?

Also can you check browser console if there are any errors when you try to edit sidebars

My apologies, I was using Easy Custom Sidebars which is now listed as being incompatible with WordPress 4.7 so I have stopped using that and am now using your sidebar plugin which works perfectly.Your plugin is easier to use as well. I am also impressed with the support here. Thanks very much. ??

I’ll try to write out what I remember went wrong.

Pretty much the sidebars disappeared on the front end/ui of the website.

In the back end Widgets page, the widgets themselves were in the wrong places and out of order (section/title wise). But on the front end it showed correctly (the regular sidebar).

When I restored to 4.6 everything was working again without me doing anything.

    Hope this helps.

    Hello jasnlee,

This is strange. Did you maybe also updated theme to newer version? This is theme you are using https://themefurnace.com/themesoft-theme/ right? I will try to get copy of it and check if I can replicate issue there.

Do you by any chance had debug.log enabled when everything broke? That would help us to determine what happen there.

    kind regards,
    Kasia

Correct, that is the theme I am using. I am using version 2.0 of the theme.

No, my WP_DEBUT is off ??

    Thanks.

    Hello jasnlee,

?? – I’m not able to get a copy of that theme to test it. Could you possibly contact us on contact [at] wpmudev.org with subject attn: Kasia Swiderska so we could check other possibilities?

    kind regards,

Thank you for using Custom Sidebars. I am going to mark this topic resolved because it has been moved to email. If this issue was not resolved we can reopen it. Thanks again!
