@roombox Please try to access the recovery mode by manually accessing the URL.

Example: Simply try to access this URL replacing example.com with your domain:

    example.com/wp-login.php?action=enter_recovery_mode

Let me know if what worked for you.

@karzin That did not work… error “There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.”

    4.5.1 works fine!. Thanks @karzin

Just a note, maybe, if you use a plugin or another method to mask your wp-admin login URL, you’ll need to use a variation of the link. Be sure to replace?wp-login.php?with your custom login URL suffix. Example: example.com/custom-login/?action=enter_recovery_mode.

Other than that, did you receive the WordPress email with the title “Your Site is Experiencing a Technical Issue” or something similar? Please take a look if you can find a link just after this text:

If your site appears broken and you can’t access your dashboard normally, WordPress now has a special “recovery mode”. This lets you safely login to your dashboard and investigate further.

If you can find it, that would be the recovery mode link.

@karzin No, I do not use any masking method – my admin link is simply wp-login.php. https://orderroombox.com/wp-login.php

I have not gotten a single email from WP regarding this. I have the latest version of WP installed. Everything on the site was updated and working fine. How do I fix this????? I have customers waiting to place orders right now

@mpocock If you have FTP or SSH access to your website or can you access the database via PHPMyAdmin or similar then try to disable the plugin as described here: https://kinsta.com/knowledgebase/disable-wordpress-plugins/ In other case you have to contact your webhost provider for help (it seems your website is hosted by UpCloud).

    Thanks @chesio ,

From what I could check, @mpocock ‘s hosting provider does seem to be UpCloud. Please @mpocock , try to reach them and ask for FTP access. Or maybe, ask them to simply delete the folder wp-content\plugins\order-minimum-amount-for-woocommerce for you. After that, the site will be accessible again.

Regarding the WordPress email, please check your spam folder. WordPress usually sends emails when errors like these occur.

@karzin that’s the first thing I did – upcloud does not offer FTP access. Of course I have checked all my email folders….

When I try to access your site via wp-login.php, I see a WordPress message: ‘There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.’

It appears that emails are being sent, but you might not be checking the correct email address.

Regarding UpCloud, if FTP access isn’t available, they might provide an alternative method for accessing your files, such as through cPanel or a similar file management tool.

@karzin no sh*t – i’m seeing the same error message. you’re trying to insult me by suggesting that i haven’t checked the correct email??? patronizing a customer of yours is not a smart route buddy. You costed me 5 hours of my day, countless online orders (for 5 hours I’d estimate $10k in sales), and at least $1k in dev costs which i am currently paying on upwork to get this fixed. What else would you like to do to me today to completely ruin things??? please tell me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    @mpocock ,

I’m really sorry if my previous message came across the wrong way. My intention was only to suggest possible reasons why the email might not be found. It has happened to me already once or twice.

@mpocock I’m sure you have other problems to care about now, but for the future I recommend to create a staging website and develop a habit of running any updates (core, plugins, theme) in staging environment first and only after confirming there are no issues with the update running them in production as well. It is never a good idea to deploy updates on production website without testing them first on staging website, especially if any downtime costs you a lot of money…

@chesio @leosantis thank you for your help

    Hi @mpocock,

I’m Mostafizur from the support team. I hope you’re doing well today.

Regarding the issue you were experiencing, could you please let us know if it has been resolved after updating to the latest version of the plugin, or if it still persists? If the issue continues, we’ll do our best to assist you further and find a solution.

    Regards.
