    Hi

    I have another problem:

When i click on some categories in my catalogue (i use “radio-button” mode) sometimes i get “no articles found” even when there are some in this category.
The error happens without any schema, sometimes it works, sometimes not.

Does anybody of you have the same problem and is there something that can be done to fix it?

    Best,
    Thomas

  • Hi Thomas,

Are you able to give us an exact example from your catalogue where this is happening?

When you say “sometimes it works, sometimes not” do you mean that, if you choose one specific category, it might show, but then you can click the exact same category again and it might not show the next time?

    Hi

Yes when i then click on a category 4 times or another then it might work.
Just click around the product catalogue then you will find the error at some stage.

    Hi Thomas,

It looks like the issue only happens if you have one subcategory clicked, then you click a different top level category (i.e. not the top level category for the subcategory you already had clicked).

The subcategory radio buttons have to be independent from the Category radio buttons or else, as you know, clicking on one radio button will just remove all the others.

We can look to see if there’s a way to make it so that if you click on a different top level category, it removes selected subcategories from all other top level categories. I don’t know if or when we’ll be able to implement this.

    Hi

Yes please consider fixing this issue as it causes confusion when using “radio-button” mode (customers say something is not working as they don’t know the exact technical reason for this).

    Hi Thomas,

In the meantime, one thing you could try is setting the sub-category control type to checkbox (leaving the category control type on radio button). That way, you’ll still only be able to have one top-level category selected, but then you’ll be able to uncheck the previously-selected sub-category.

I can’t do this since it messes up my layout and causes even more confusion for my customers. The problem is that they simply expect te catalogue to be working like any other (where you can just select any category/subcategory at a time).

    Hi

Has there been any progress or is there any chance that this gets fixed in the future?
As i said customers simply complain that something is not working as they don’t know the technical reason for this (and even if they did, they’d complain because the expect the catalogue to simply be working)? ??

    Hi Thomas,

We haven’t been able to make any updates for this yet. What specifically is messed up with your layout if you set the sub-category control type to checkbox?

-> I need “radio-button” mode for both main categories as well as subcategories.
I mean this cannot be so hard to fix, or? ??

    Hi Thomas,

As we’ve mentioned before, how hard something is to “fix” (implement) isn’t the only factor in if or when it does indeed get implemented. We previously said that we don’t know if or when we’ll be able to implement this, and this is still the case. If this was something we’d already changed, then it would’ve been mentioned in the changelog and it would’ve been obvious in the options. I can assure you that this feature is on our list of requests. Unfortunately, it isn’t a high priority at the moment.

    Hi

Is there any progress on this or is it still unimportant somehow?
I can remember that another user here in this forum has a similar problem

    Hi Thomas,

We’ve released a new version of UPCP (Version 4.2.8).

    Hi

I installed the version but it still doesn’t work as expected

Please take a look and tell me how to fix it

-I need radio-button mode for all categories and sub-categories
-When clicking on a combination of category/subcategory, all previous selections should go away. This way its ensured that the search results are correct and no “no articles found” should result.

    Hi Thomas,

It’s working. What’s happening is, when you select from one category, it grays out (makes not selectable) all sub-categories from other categories. If you make it so that the actual radio buttons display, you’ll see this and get a better idea of how it’s working.
