Manually upgraded to 3.9 and have minor issues with the visual editor: Insert/Remove link buttons don’t work, add media doesn’t work. All other buttons seem to work.

I am using a child theme of 2012 and one plugin (Akismet). I completely deleted the two plugins, switched to default 2014, cleared caches on two separate browsers — same problem. Deleted/reinstalled TinyMCE folder, then entire JS folder. No change.

I enabled script debugging; no errors reported. I’ve read the posts on the 3.9 ‘master list’ referencing VE issues.

I re-upgraded from within the dashboard; no change.

I enabled the console on two browsers and got this error when loading the “Edit Post” page:

SCRIPT438: Object doesn’t support property or method ‘sortable’
    File: load-scripts.php, Line: 57, Column: 1207

Clicking on the “Insert Link” button at this time results in this error

SCRIPT5007: Unable to get property ‘show’ of undefined or null referenceFile: load-scripts.php, Line: 1017, Column: 1491

SCRIPT5007: Unable to get property ‘hasClass’ of undefined or null reference
    File: load-scripts.php, Line: 1014, Column: 1413

  • I have the same problem – these buttons don’t work for me either.

    I have the same problem.

I’ve subsequently discovered that most of the buttons on the right side bar don’t work: I can’t add tags to my posts or edit the publishing time, for example.

As this was a clean manual upgrade, my only other thought at this point is to revert.

I deactivated the WPML plugin and the buttons work…

I don’t have that plug in so that’s not a fix for me.

I gave up and reverted to the most current 3.8. Now it works like a champ…

Hi. I just updated to 3.9 and none of my linking works as well. Also feel like the media button is off. I deactivated all plug-ins to see if this solved my issues (so I could pin point from there) and NOPE. Any suggestions to someone who isn’t very technically inclined is appreciated.
