3.8 upgrade and lost custom header and customizations

WordPress automatically upgraded my site to version 3.8 – I generally hate doing upgrades since they always mess things up – and now all the custom features my web designer created are gone. No custom header, no custom “about us” image on the top right, no social media icons in the header space. Please help! I don’t know what to do or where to begin. I use the Thesis theme
