3.6 problems

I would backup ‘wp-config.php’ and the entire ‘wp-content’ folder using an FTP client before you do ANYTHING ??

Please post more details of your setup. Who do you use for your host? and how you did you install/un-install? through a one click option offered by your host or FTP?

Since I updated to 3.6 I can no longer see all of the tabbed customizations for flexibility 3 theme. It just forces a very minimal 3 section customization in a left side bar…..

When I click on the link “flexibility 3 options” which normally takes me to a full page with 15 different tabs of areas to customize, NOW it still takes me to the page, with the heading…and all the tabs are gone…or are being prevented from being seen.

Can you help me fix this?

@bischofffive – please start your own thread per the forum guidelines. Also, you’re using a commercial theme (they are not supported here), so if the problem only happens in your theme, you need to ask the developers of the theme. You can test by deactivating all plugins and switching to the twentytwelve theme. (FWIW, I think I’ve seen some other threads on problems with that theme after updating to 3.6.)

I use iPower for hosting(Linux). I have an open ticket with them trying to sort this out, they have been very supportive. The issue was caused by a site transfer, and it took down both of my sites when the files came over.

I uninstalled the 3.6 in the iPower control panel, not really thinking about what I was doing. It made things much worse. So now I want to reinstall the WordPress client but think I will lose everything…?

My hosting company told me that database tables are missing? What the hell does that mean, and where did they go? I didn’t do anything. They told me to reinstall them with my local backups. I don’t have any. So now what?

I need some 911 help with this, its a final student project that I have to present on Tues, and right now I’m fucked…

The most important thing here is your database!

If it was a site transfer…where is the old site? Was it with the same host? Is it still accessible in any way? Possibly via IP address or temporary URL provided by your host? Can iPower still access your OLD database from the original site? If you can still access it in any possible way you can get what is called a database dump.

I’m also wondering if the correct database is configured in wp-config.php. When you installed WordPress 3.6 it may have created a new database for you (if you used their installer) and therefore the old database may still exist.

I had another site that I had transferred to the iPower account due to performance reasons. (Windows vs Linux) They were 2 different hosts, but now it is 1 account hosting 2 sites in sub-directories.

The site transferred crashed both of the sites. The main one (student project) was the one already being hosted by iPower (not the imported one).

I think I messed up the database when I uninstalled 3.6. Is there someway to get my database tables back without a complete reinstall?

Right now my site loads with the WP installation page (www. airportpizza.ca)

What will happen if I continue?

update… I had to do a complete rebuild, i couldn’t wait anymore for a workaround, due tomorrow. i had no backups (lesson learned).

One of the first things I add to ANY WordPress install is a backup plugin that will save complete copies of my clients sites including the databases to a Dropbox asccount on a daily/nightly basis. I personally like BackWPup.

I am having a problem with 3.6 in that large page do not show up in the editor in either text or visual and the text count shows 0 for any page edited in 3.6. The older pages are fine.
