• 1. The simplest task such as uploading a picture takes two to four more clicks, and a lot of mousing, than even the prior interface, which was poor to start with.

    2. Images now frequently do not load. some percentage of the progress bar fills in and then it hangs indefinitely. No feedback or error message. Intermittent problem but it never occurred pre-3.5.

    3. Default behavior before – image posted at 300 px was clickable to full size by user. Behavior in 3.5 — image posted at 300 px is clickable… to a page with the 300 px image, giving them nothing for a click and requiring a back-arrow to get back to original content. This is wasteful and stupid.

    4. Did disable plugins and set site to the 2013 eyesore, no joy.

    5. The mods are insisting the these are the grooviest threads the Emperor’s ever worn. and we peasants don’t appreciate how wonderful they are, so shut up. No one appears to be trying to understand, let alone fix, the problems.

    6. Could you at least make it possible for those of us for whom 3.5 is a downgrade to back out of it? It’s obvious from the attitudes of the mods that fixes will not be forthcoming, so let us roll back to the last working version.

It sounds like you have a problem with Imagick, actually. Can you see if that’s installed on your server and, if so, what version?

(3.5 and media modal are groovy, but nothing is 100% ?? we know there are legit issues, but it’s hard to find them among the folks who just are contrary to be that way.)

I am finding that I am unable to change from visual to html screen in edit. I find I am no longer able to embed a you tube video onto my post, which is very frustrating as often I use you tube videos to help illustrate points in my blog. I did find the red arrow on the tool bar – I did embed the html into the bar of the popup, it did show up as if something was happening on the edit page – but on the actual webpage there was nothing there. Can you help me please.

I am also finding I am unable to reply to comments made on the websites – this new version has quite a few bugs – is there anyway I can go back to the old version until these bugs are ironed out, please.

I don’t have imagick on my server, don’t really know what that is.

@peckerpac: As per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic. Posting in an existing topic prevents us from being able to track issues by topic. Added to which, your problem – despite any similarity in symptoms – is likely to be completely different.

Thank you for responding, Mika. I haven’t run the php to verify the version, but I’m hosted by GoDaddy, and they say that ImageMagick (is that what you mean?) is provided on their servers. Google searches for imagick find ImageMagick related pages, so I’m *guessing* (and we know what that’s worth…) that they’re the same thing.

*Assuming* (there we go again) that ImageMagick is the element of concern, I’ll figure out what it takes to run the php and determine the exact version. Doesn’t look like rocket surgery.

One more data point… while the “will not post” thing is intermittent, Safari seems more likely to fail than Firefox.

I hate running plugins but I’ve started to look for an image plugin that did what the old media loader did. I can work around the spotty uploading for now, and live with the usability insult of having several extra clicks and large mouse movements that weren’t there before, but need a way around the brain-damaged handling of click on thumbnail or midsize image (which used to open whole image, now opens thumbnail or midsize in a page of its own).

The problems I’m having are completely different from those Peckerpac describes. Only the dissatisfaction with 3.5 is the same!

You can still upload images the old way via the dashboard -> Media -> Add New.

ImageMagick is what I mean, and we know there are weird issues if you’re using very out of date versions of the tool.
