• I’ve been reading about some of the other issues people are having with the 3.5 upgrade and it causing their post/page editing space to be blank. The website itself seems to be working fine and all the pages are visible (thank God!) but I’m having the same “blank page” issue but only on SOME of my pages.

Most pages appear to come right up and I can edit them just fine, while other pages do not. I don’t see any rhyme or reason as the pages are all laid out exactly the same (with simple HTML).

I read that the Bulletproof Security plug in was causing the problem, but I don’t have that.

I then read to do the SCRIPT_DEBUG step. I did that but it had no effect.

I went through and disabled my plugins one by one (I don’t have that many) and to no avail.

Any other ideas? Is a WordPress Update in the works for this???

  • Not too bad. You’ll learn the ropes. My best advice…

Set up a test site.. where you can test updates first!!

Usually the “dust will clear” after a few days.. and plugin and theme developers have a chance to update their codes.

And.. if they are extremely active in their development… they will download beta versions of WP before they ever become public… and test their codes then. Which, certainly, they would be aware of the incompatibilities.

    Anyways… Make a test site!!!

    I agree,I will make a test site. ??
    Thanks for the advice, josh.

    You bet!!

OK, I know this is going to sound crazy, but I just spent about an hour deactivating, reactivating, clearing my browser cache, yadda yadda. That was about as frustrating a time as I’ve had in a while.

I first deactivated all of the plugins and of course I could now view the editing section and see the page content. So far so good.

Then I would clear the browser cache (I did this in Chrome: Tools-Clear Browsing History-Empty the Cache), reactivate the next plugin and test again by reloading the page editing screen. But I seemed to be getting inconsistent results.

First it wouldn’t work, but then I’d reload the page and it would work. Then I’d try again and it wouldn’t work. I have 20 various plugins and no matter what method I tried I couldn’t get any kind of consistent results. Maybe my methodology is wrong.

If anyone could post a definitive step-by-step on how to test plugins one at a time I’d appreciate it. As Michael Scott would say, “Explain it like I was a 7 year old.”

Plus, it still doesn’t make sense to me that all of my pages seem to “work” OK except for one. If there was something wrong with a plug in, shouldn’t it screw up all of the pages???

There is nothing different about that one page except it has different text and pictures. It’s really a basic HTML page.

I’m thinking of simply deleting that page and recreating it. Can anyone think of a downside to that plan?

    Hi all,
    Same basic issue.
Did the update to 3.5 – and now in the Editor there is a HUGE Blank Gap from the very end of any content and down inside the editing space – the blank space is like two pages + long.
The source shows nothing, I cannot delete it, but thank goodness this white space does not appear on the published post.
BTW – its the same when editing any Post OR Pages – it seems to be something related to the Editor.

I’ll bet it’s something Very Simple, sitting there staring at us/you – we just need to find the little bugger!

    THANKS for ANY HELP!

Same problem here. I get a blank editing space when trying to edit any page or post after 3.5 update. Really frustrating. Any suggestions other than the ones above?

    Hi George,
What would be the process for this?

I am trying to be very careful here – I just went through a dedicated server update that went sour as well just before the WP update – the server is fine now, however it appears that over 1000 pending posts are missing too. The missing posts may not be a WP issue and I’m willing to let those go as I have external contingencies in place.
Bottom line is I really want to be careful – we just did get decent traffic back after all this and I don’t need another mess up.

Anyone find the cause of the BIG BLANK Space showing up in the editor after the 3.5 update?

I deactivated the plugins, Checked for entries in the error logs, Dumped cache in the browser, but still the same Blank Space when in the Editor for Posts OR Pages.

The blank space is about 3 pages long and begins after the end of the content.

    Thanks!

    Ronfam,

Hi! This blank page screen to death in edit posts in wordpress just happened to me and sent me a hell of a panic.

    1. Some thread suggests installing google libraries plug-in. so I tried as well but didn’t help me at all.
    2. I tried deactivating all my plugins
    3. Revert my theme to the default theme.

None of this solved the problem.

But after hours of figuring it out, I was able to fix it. It turned out that the .htaccess rule was the source of the problem. To check this, I access my server thru ftp and rename the .htacess file. I clear cached and refresh the page and it works just fine for me now.

If this step did not solve the problem then it could be that your wordpress upgrade was not not performed properly and your files may be corrupted.

I hope this could help you guys! =)
