SEO Plug-In Suggestion

  • I know there are quite a few plug-ins that deal with meta tag’s (keyword and description) like x-fish, etc – but I would like to suggest some other plug-ins;

    1. Blog meta-tags and description = tied to the site’s profile – when there isn’t a single post (or you’re on the index.php page) it should use a Home page meta-tag/description that is editable on the profile page. This is something I’d really like to see.

    2. SEO Submission – enable you to submit your site to search engines, etc.

    3. SEO user-agent banning – a text-file listing bad user-agents/ips, etc (a perfect ban-list) to dump into a .htaccess

  • 1. essentially irrelevant. search engines stopped using this info years ago because of spammers

    2. essentially irrelevant. search engines find your site via spiders, and the ping to update services is enough for the spiders to find you

    1. I believe you can already do this by using:

    <meta name="description" content="<?php bloginfo('description'); ?>" />

    2. There are tons of places that submit their site to search engines, and yet, the best way to get into search engines is to have people link to you. Pingbacks and trackbacks are growing in popularity and these are built into WordPress. If a quality site links to you, then the search engine will find you. Just make sure you have content that is worth for others to link to.

    3. There are user-agent banning lists all over the net. For WordPress to host such information would be time consuming and possibly even “help” them. WordPress is totally created and run by volunteers and their energies are best spent elsewhere, allowing sites that specialize in such information to host that information.
