Corrupted image upload

I’m having the same problem! It’s very frustrating, isn’t it?

Did you find anything out on why it’s happening or any info how to fix it? It looks like I’ve tried the same stuff as you did, to no avail.

Try to scale down the picture to the max size in pixels that will appear on the screen (say 1024*768 or so) in jpg format before uploading.
Pictures with filesizes over 1 Mb give problems everywhere: in your PC software, in the server’s software etc.
Is your pc’s memory 100% errorfree?

Yeah, I did a check on my Mac, and my memory seems to be fine, but I’ve also tried on several different computers, and the images distort in the same way.

I tried to resize the images at your suggestion, but I still get some problems. Also, most the images are under a Mb to begin with. Here’s a new image, and then the smaller version, both of which are still messed up.

I can’t seem to find a common isolated link between the images that are corrupting, since they all seem to be corrupting. Images from my camera, images from my phone, images from my computer, images from other peoples computers…

Is there maybe a specific PHP file in WordPress that I should look at and edit?

Did you try uploading using an FTP program?

I can confirm this problem too, starting with WordPress 2.9 or 2.9.1 (the update happened relatively quickly).

Uploading image via FTP – > No problem, image looks fine
Uploading via WordPress Flash or Browswer uploader -> Corruption
Uploading via Ecto (XMLRPC client) -> Corruption

The corruption I see is identical to that reported above. Also on Dreamhost if this makes a difference.

Same problem here. Also on Dreamhost, WP 2.9.1.

I am the original poster, and I am also on Dreamhost. In fact I opened a ticket with them. If anybody feels this is Dreamhost-related, please mention my case #31619542 with them. I’ll ping them again now.
