    Hi,

I updated to 3.4.1 several days ago after seeing the notice on my dashboard to do so.

Now I can no longer edit any posts (page comes up blank), edit/customize my theme, get to my plug-ins page, and so forth.

I can log in as “admin” just fine and can basically get around, but I seem to have a frozen site now as far as doing anything.

The site is not having a problem on the reader’s side.

    Any clues or suggestions?

Thank you very much to anyone who can help,

    Coco

  • Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

Updated to the new version now can’t access my dashboard.

When I log into wordpress to enter new post it takes me to my webpage with a 404 error message. Can’t get into my panel at all to fix this.

Okay, well, I’ve done the first one and the second one and zero luck.

I am completely stuck now on the third and fourth- I am trying to do them, but am stalled by my limited tech ability and now, unfortunately, I have caused my entire admin area to go blank. I am now worried I am going to cause lasting damage.

Thanks for any more suggestions you may have- hopefully, you have something that I can follow and implement.

Ugh- I am wishing I had not been so eager to upgrade!

You will not have caused any permanent damage. Your content is still in your database. Any luck with the other 2 steps?

No luck with the other two steps…

With the first step to try, do you re-name the theme folder, say, “Neutica-old” or “Twenty Eleven- old”? I tried the first name and nothing changed.

With the second step, I was then able to get to my plug-ins once I did that, but nothing changed after that.

With the last two steps, I am afraid I just jammed everything up- I know my content is there, but I cannot even see my admin page any longer— which happened another time and in that case, I deleted the plug-in (via FTP on my C-panel) that triggered the problem and then all was well. But this time, I just don’t know what I would delete- if anything- to get it all back to normal.

I appreciate hearing from you- thanks for your responses. Every time something like this happens, I learn something, though perhaps against my will. ??

Just add -old to the theme’s folder? What theme were you using?

I am using the Neutica theme. I cannot change the theme at this time, so I put “-old” at the end of Neutica on my C-panel- and then the blog went blank. So I took that off.

Is there a way to change the theme via my control panel? And if I do manage to change to Twenty Eleven, am I stuck with that or can I get my current theme back?

    Thanks much,

    Coco
