My website (www.openresources.org) was recently hacked and I have restored all of the functionality except I can’t seem to figure out why the wp-admin link is returning 404 file not found. When you go to https://www.openresources.org/wp-login.php you can login successfully but instead of it taking you to the admin screen it displays a 404 error. Does anyone have any suggestions of which file/part might be broken and causing this?

I am unable to access any files inside of wp-admin… they all return 404. However, I can access wp-login.php in the root. Any ideas?

I have restored my wp-admin folder with my backup version, along with wp-includes and all the files in the root and I’m still getting a 404… anyone know what might be the problem?

I’ve noticed that the index.php files found in subfolders are not being displayed when you access the subfolder, instead it is displaying a 404. If I rename the index.php file to index.htm then it loads the page (no 404 error) and I can view the contents of the file by viewing source. So it has something to do with not loading index.php as the default file in subfolders. It does load the index.php in the root, so it is only subfolders that have the problem. Does anyone know the php or apache setting that needs to be tweaked to fix this?

Problem solved! There was an error with IonCube on the web server. My hosting company figured it out for me.

I’m having the same problem. What was the solution?

Yes, and what did the hosting company figure out? What had to be done to fix the problem?

I had this problem today and it wnt away after I deleted my .htaccess file in wp-admin. I’ll need to look into this further.
