Okay this is the error (similar to above) I get when attempting to activate the plugin —

“This plugin requires WordPress 4.0 or greater, and PHP 5.4 or greater. You are currently running WordPress 4.3.1 and PHP 5.2.17. Please contact your website host or server administrator for more information. The plugin has been deactivated.”

Checking my site hosting cpanel shows the site is running on PHP 5.4.43 not 5.2.17.

Okay. After a half hour with our web host we finally resolved the issue. The root directory of our site does have PHP 5.4 running. The WP install is in a sub-directory that also needed its .htaccess file annotated for PHP 5.4. Once this happened the plugin activated properly.

Thanks, you saved me a ton of time. i was getting the same error after the last update (3.3.1.)

@bookwizard, thanks for sharing your solution, but how has the .htacess to be changed, could you share the code here?

    thanks for your time
