• When in the Visual mode for editing a page, I can no longer see the Anchor symbol on any of my sites’ pages.

The anchors still work, and are in the html, just the symbols are not longer shown in the visual mode.

    Tried de-activating super-edit , and they still don’t show.
    Re-activated super-edit, still don’t show.
4/4 sites, any pages using anchors.

Did notice that 1 anchor had shown, out of them all, when in the Apple Safari (AS) browser. That was while creating some new pages, once I cleaned up the html (there were some text sizing/styling tags in with it), it disappeared.

Trying FF, IE, GC, and AS.

noticed a problem with IE, not reacting to the hypertext that point to anchors.
With IE, if the anchors are in a table cell with no text within that cell, IE doesn’t like it. IE needs some text next to the anchor. So went back and fixed that.. hours later went back into one of the pages with AS to do editing, noticed all my anchor symbols are showing on that page… did the edited I needed to do, one minor fix for the location of a picture.. saved, and now the anchor symbols don’t show (again).

As I bounce between browsers testing, AS is the only one that had shown one or some anchors symbols, and then gone… since upgrading to 3.2 .

    Any ideas?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

I have not tried to deactivate ALL, will try.
I am using Twenty Eleven theme on one of the 4… and it acts exactly the same as the others… the only plugin they all have in common is super edit and super cache (which is turned off , but not deactivated).

ok, went into one of my sites that is least critical and has the most plugins… only 2 in common with all the others, super cache and super edit.

    running 20/11 theme…

deactivated all, deleted all unused plugins in that site, ftp’d in and make sure the house was clean.
same old same old in both FF and AS browsers.
    cant see the anchor tags.

since there were strange occurrences , where the anchor tags decided to show themselves in the AS browser… it seems to be more of a rendering problem by WP…

I haven’t tried reseting the plugins yet via the procedure above…. not looking forward to loosing settings.. and very much doubt it would work… just seems like a rendering problem since it’s acted every so slightly different on AS .

so reset the plug in folders, nothing….
and just uninstalled wp-super-edit and upgraded, still not showing anchors… and now the new version of wp-super-edit, when enabling the font tools, I loose my visual edit menu.
